Meet Jay: managing complex healthcare projects

As Order Processing Manager at Trovex, Jay Foord plays a pivotal role in ensuring every project runs smoothly from start to finish. Whether it’s overseeing technical drawings, supporting installation teams, or helping customers maximise the benefits of Trovex systems, Jay brings a wealth of expertise and a solutions-focused approach to healthcare projects where hygiene and safety are non-negotiable.
“We see ourselves as subject matter experts. It’s not just any wash basin or fire door – our products are designed specifically for hygienic environments. That’s something we take pride in asserting.” Jay Foord, Order Processing Manager, Trovex.
Supporting projects from design to aftercare
Jay describes the purpose of his role as “bridging the gap” between sales and production. “We take the initial draft of drawings or door schedules, review them with the customer, make updates as needed, and prepare the order for production,” he explains.
But his responsibilities don’t end there. Once products are delivered, Jay and his team are also on hand to support after-sales needs. From addressing missing or damaged items to offering training for installers. It’s this start-to-finish involvement that helps maintain Trovex’s reputation for getting things “right first time”, a principle Jay highlights as key to meeting client expectations.
Meeting the challenges of healthcare projects
Managing projects in healthcare environments brings its own unique challenges. For Jay, a major focus is ensuring customers fully understand how Trovex products are designed to meet the stringent demands of hygiene-critical settings.
“Our role is very design-orientated, and we’re lucky to have in-depth team calls and sessions with contractors,” he says. “That gives us the chance to reinforce the fact that our products have unique selling points for hygienic areas. We make sure people aren’t overlooking key details, because even small changes onsite can impact hygiene performance.”
He also points out that while external challenges like lead times are now largely mitigated by improved processes and resources, internal pressures can arise during peak periods. “When we’re busy, we’re really busy. The team is dedicated and focused on meeting the demands of even the most complex multi-product multi-phase projects.”
A pride in transforming spaces
When asked what makes him proud to be part of Trovex, Jay reflects on the visible difference their products make in healthcare settings.
“You don’t always appreciate it until you visit a site,” he says. “You see how an area looked before – dated, worn down, not fit for purpose – and then you see it after our products are installed. It’s modern, hygienic, and fit for the future. You can’t help but feel proud knowing you’ve been part of that improvement for patients and staff.”
Simple systems, smarter installations
Jay also emphasises how Trovex’s product design supports both his role and the wider project teams. “Our Hygipod and Hygidoor systems are easy to understand and explain, even to new customers or site teams. Unlike traditional methods that involve timber framing and assembling countless parts, our pre-plumbed Hygipod systems go straight onto the wall. That simplicity speeds up installation and reduces room for error.”
He notes that customers sometimes question whether something so straightforward can really deliver, but those doubts are quickly dispelled once they experience it on site. “Once they’ve installed our products, they see the quality and how seamless it is. That’s a big win for us as project managers.”
With robust training, clear installation guides and a focus on continuous improvement, Jay and his team are helping shape healthcare environments that prioritise infection control and patient safety, all while making life easier for installers and end users alike.
“We take pride in more than just selling Hygidoors and Hygipods. It’s about being part of the bigger picture, improving spaces for the future of healthcare.” Jay F.
