With a background that spans soft furnishings, engineering, and digital marketing for architects, Howard McCreadie’s experience is as versatile as the product range he now supports. At Trovex, he brings years of specification expertise to the table, helping architects and project teams turn vision into reality across complex healthcare environments.
We sat down with Howard to learn more about his day-to-day, the intricacies of his collaborative work, and how he helps ensure the right product ends up in the right place, every time.
Howard’s role as a Specification Manager centres around one key goal: making it easy for architects and specifiers to find the best-fit solutions for their projects.
“I’m usually involved from the very beginning,” he explains. “Whether it’s Revit models, drawings, or technical guidance, my job is to support the design process and keep things moving smoothly.”
From early discussions around fire strategy and compliance, to resolving detailed queries around maximum door or IPS sizes, Howard plays a hands-on role throughout the design journey.
Once an order is confirmed, he hands over to the Trovex project managers, but remains on hand to answer questions and offer advice as the project develops.
Getting the right product into the right space takes more than ticking boxes. It means understanding the client’s needs and matching them with a solution that performs long term.
Howard frequently works across the full stakeholder chain: architects, contractors, and end users. One recent project involved coordination between all three, ensuring the tender package reflected the client’s needs while also aligning with contractor expectations.
“It’s not just one conversation. It’s ongoing collaboration.”
In healthcare design, requirements evolve. What’s asked at the start may shift entirely by the final stage. That’s why flexibility and close observation are key to not only to Howard’s approach, but also the modularity and configurability of our products.
“Legal requirements are usually clear, but client preferences can develop over time. So I keep track of those changes to make sure our products still align as the project evolves.”
When asked which Trovex product has the biggest impact, Howard hesitated, for the right reasons.
“It’s not one product. It’s the full suite. Our strength is in how the systems work together. It gives architects the ability to create a fully coordinated scheme, that’s rare.”
That said, he notes the MSU bedhead unit as a standout: “It’s genuinely different to anything else in the market.”
For those facing a blank sheet when it comes to project specification, Howard’s message is simple: reach out.
“I’m happy to talk people through what’s available and what works where. And if it’s an area where someone else has more in-depth knowledge, I’ll bring in one of our specialists to help.”
At the heart of Howard’s work is a clear mission: to simplify specification.
“Our aim is to make it easy. Make the process painless. So the customer enjoys the journey, gets the right product, and comes back to us again.”
Now available on the NBS Source platform, Hygipod IPS can be specified and inserted directly into project documentation with just a few clicks- no manual data entry required.
