Durable healthcare doorsets: the practical benefits with Nelson H

Introduction
In healthcare environments, the installation of doorsets demands compliance, speed, and minimal disruption. A fully integrated doorset solution offers a streamlined way to meet these needs effectively.
Nelson Humphris, part of Trovex’s Business Development team, explains why Hygidoor stands out in the healthcare sector and what the practical benefits are.
Most of the Work Happens Off Site
“The biggest thing that makes our doorsets a lot quicker to install is the fact that a lot of the legwork is done beforehand in our factory,” says Nelson.
Each Hygidoor is supplied with a goalpost frame, complete with the subframe and one side of the architrave already attached. This means the unit can be inserted straight into the structural opening without the need to build up a frame on site, unlike traditional subframe systems where installers must first fit the subframe and then attach the both sides of the architraves separately. Here's an installation video for the Hygidoor double doorset.
This off-site preparation significantly reduces the complexity and duration of installation, helping to keep healthcare projects on schedule and minimise disruption in busy clinical environments.
Built for longevity
While faster installation is a major advantage, Hygidoor is also designed for the tough demands of healthcare environments. The doorset is fully PVC-wrapped, meaning there are no exposed edges that can harbour bacteria or absorb moisture from cleaning.
“Because the frame and architraves are all factory-finished, you get a consistent, sealed surface,” says Nelson. “That makes it much easier to clean and maintain over time.”
This makes Hygidoor a strong choice for areas where infection control is critical, helping facilities teams keep surfaces hygienic and compliant with cleaning protocols. The robust construction also means it withstands heavy traffic, reducing the frequency of repairs or replacements.
Everything you need in one package
Nelson highlights that the benefits of Hygidoor beyond the frame itself.
“All the ironmongery, so the lock bodies, hinges, and any routing for the drop-down seals is done in our factory so that there’s none of that to have to do on site, and then it’s an all-inclusive package. You get all the ironmongery to come with the doorset.”
This means all essential hardware and fittings arrive ready to install, further streamlining the process and reducing the need for multiple trades or additional deliveries.
Fire-compliance: safety built in
One of the non-negotiables in healthcare is fire safety. Hygidoor is designed to meet required fire-rated standards, with certified doorsets that maintain integrity under fire conditions. Hygidoor has been primary tested to destruction in many configurations.
Because compliance is engineered into the product at the factory, there’s less risk of error during installation. That means facilities can rely on Hygidoor not only to look good and perform for infection control, but to also provide required life safety protections without compromise.
Designed with installation and infection control in mind
By completing as much assembly and preparation off site as possible, Hygidoor reduces time, labour, and complexity during installation. This is particularly valuable in healthcare environments where efficiency and minimal disruption are paramount.
Its seamless PVC encapsulation, flush vision panels, and factory-finished components support infection control practices by eliminating exposed joins, with surfaces that withstand aggressive cleaning and reduce bacterial growth.
Choosing Hygidoor means investing in a solution that delivers a high-quality finish, minimises on-site fuss, and meets the latest healthcare standards for performance and hygiene.
